This gestural, loose drawing depicts the action of thoroughbred racing, inspired by Saratoga Thoroughbred Racecourse. A sienna/ochre wash of acrylic paint was brushed on before the charcoal drawing was started. Then several more layers of alternating charcoal and wash were added. A final coat of clear acrylic gloss medium was applied to give the painting luster as well as protecting the charcoal medium.
